About the Temperature Converter

Temperature scales trip people up because, unlike length or weight, they don't share a zero point — you can't just multiply. The AlarmDaddy Temperature Converter handles the maths for you between Celsius, Fahrenheit and Kelvin, whether you're following a recipe, reading a weather forecast, or working through a science problem.

Type a temperature, choose the scales, and see the converted value plus the reading on every scale at once.

How to use this calculator

  1. 1Enter the temperature value.
  2. 2Choose the scale to convert from.
  3. 3Choose the scale to convert to.
  4. 4Read the result and all three scales.

The formula

°F = °C × 9/5 + 32 · K = °C + 273.15

Conversions go via Celsius. Fahrenheit to Celsius subtracts 32 then multiplies by 5/9; Kelvin to Celsius subtracts 273.15. The reverse formulas convert Celsius back out. Because the scales have different zero points, an offset (not just a factor) is involved.
