About the Audio Editor & Trimmer — Cut MP3 Online

The AlarmDaddy Audio Editor is a free online audio editor and MP3 cutter that lets you trim audio, extract the exact portion you want, and download it — all inside your browser. Load an MP3 (or WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG or FLAC), drag across the waveform to select a region, and either keep just that part or cut it out. It is the fast way to grab a ringtone, clip a song, shorten a voice note or pull one section out of a long recording.

Because it runs on the Web Audio API, your file never leaves your device — there is no upload, no sign-up and no watermark. That makes it private and quick, and it works the same on a phone, tablet or computer.

Trim to the exact moment. The waveform shows you the sound so you can see where words, beats or silences start. Drag the start and end handles, or type the start and end times in seconds for sample-accurate cuts. Press play to preview just the selection, loop it while you fine-tune, and use the "set to playhead" buttons to mark a point while listening. When it is right, Download selection saves exactly the highlighted portion.

A real editor, not just a cutter. Beyond trimming you can delete a middle section (the two ends join seamlessly), fade in or fade out, normalize to make a quiet clip louder, change the volume by any amount, reverse a section, or mute part of the audio. Every edit has full undo and redo, so you can experiment freely.

Download in MP3 or WAV. Export the selection or the whole edited clip as an MP3 (choose the bitrate from 96 to 320 kbps) or a lossless WAV. The MP3 encoder runs in your browser too, so even the export stays private.

This is the tool to reach for when you need to cut an MP3 online, make a custom ringtone, trim the silence off a recording, or pull a quote out of a podcast — without installing software or handing your audio to a website.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Choose an audio file or drag it onto the page (MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG or FLAC).
  2. 2Drag across the waveform to select a region, or type exact start/end times in seconds.
  3. 3Press Play selection (and Loop) to preview, and fine-tune the handles or times.
  4. 4Optionally edit: trim to selection, delete it, fade in/out, normalize, change volume, reverse or mute.
  5. 5Pick MP3 (set the kbps) or WAV, then click "Download selection" to save exactly that part — or "Download whole clip".

The formula

Your file is decoded to raw samples in the browser (Web Audio API). A trim copies the samples between your start and end points; a cut removes them and joins the ends; fades, normalize, gain and reverse transform the samples directly; then the result is re-encoded to MP3 or WAV for download.

Digital audio is just a long list of samples (44,100 per second for CD-quality sound). When you select a region, the editor knows exactly which samples fall between your start and end times, so "trim" simply copies that slice and "delete" stitches the parts on either side together. Fades multiply samples by a ramp from 0 to 1 (or 1 to 0); normalize finds the loudest peak and scales everything so it just reaches full volume; volume multiplies every sample by your chosen factor. Finally the edited samples are encoded back into an MP3 (lossy, smaller) or a WAV (lossless, larger) file you can download.
