About the Online Notepad

Sometimes you just need a blank page to write on right now — a quick to-do list, a phone number someone is reading out, a draft message, or a snippet of code you want to keep for a minute. The AlarmDaddy Online Notepad gives you exactly that: a distraction-free writing space that opens instantly in your browser, with no sign-up and no clutter.

Everything you type is saved automatically in your own browser as you go, so if you close the tab by accident or your laptop restarts, your note is still there when you come back. That local autosave happens entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded unless you decide to.

When you do want a note somewhere other than this one browser, tap "Save online". The notepad stores that note on our server and gives you a private link you can open on your phone, send to yourself, or share with a colleague. Saved notes are deliberately temporary: every online note automatically deletes itself after 24 hours. Editing a saved note resets its 24-hour timer, and you can delete it from the server yourself at any time with one click — you stay in control.

This makes the Online Notepad perfect for throwaway text you don't want to keep forever: a one-time password hint, a meeting scratchpad, text you're moving between two devices, or something you want a teammate to grab and then forget. It is not a permanent notes app or a backup service — think of it as a shared clipboard that cleans up after itself.

Because there are no accounts, the link itself is the key. Anyone who has the link can read that note, so treat the link like a password and only share it with people you trust. The secret key that lets you edit or delete a note is kept privately in your browser, listed under "Your online notes", so only you can change or remove what you saved.

The writing area itself keeps out of your way. A live counter shows words, characters and lines as you type, you can copy the whole note to your clipboard in one tap, and you can download it as a plain .txt file to keep a permanent copy on your device. Start a fresh note whenever you like with the New button.

Whether you use it as a quick online notepad to save notes for a few hours, a simple way to move text between your computer and your phone, or just a fast, free place to think out loud, the AlarmDaddy Online Notepad is ready the moment the page loads.

How to use this tool

  1. 1Start typing in the notepad — your text is saved in this browser automatically.
  2. 2Optionally add a title so you can recognise the note later.
  3. 3Click "Save online" to store the note on the server and get a shareable link.
  4. 4Copy the link to open the note on another device or share it with someone.
  5. 5Edit any time (which resets the 24-hour timer) or click "Delete online" to remove it now.
  6. 6Use Copy or download as .txt to keep a permanent copy on your own device.

The formula

Local autosave (browser) → optional "Save online" → server note with a 24-hour auto-delete timer that resets on every edit.

There are two independent layers. The first is local autosave: as you type, the note is written to your browser's local storage, so it survives reloads and stays on your device only. The second is optional server storage: when you choose "Save online", the note is sent to the server and given a random, hard-to-guess link plus a separate secret edit key that never leaves your browser. The server stamps an expiry 24 hours in the future; a background job runs every hour and permanently removes any note past its expiry. Each time you edit and re-save, the expiry is pushed 24 hours forward again, and deleting a note removes it immediately.
