The formula

Divide numerator and denominator by their GCF to reach lowest terms.

A fraction is in lowest terms when the numerator and denominator share no common factor other than 1. Dividing both by their greatest common factor reduces it. The decimal is numerator ÷ denominator, and the percentage is that decimal times 100.
